Forestry Skills Camp Application

Forestry Skills Camp is a one-week experience designed for high school students interested in forestry careers. It will be held at the Central Wisconsin Environmental Station, a UW-Stevens Point field station in Amherst Junction, Wisconsin. The Skills Camp will feature hands-on instruction with all students trained in wilderness first aid and the option of instruction in one of three paths (listed below). It offers students a unique opportunity to develop skills through replicated activities in a real-world setting. This camp is designed to build skills used in the forest industries and will provide 1 forestry credit at UWSP.
You will be applying for one of the following camp courses:
1) Forest Measurement and Management (class of 2025, 2026, 2027, or 2028)
2) Sawmill and Kiln Operation (class of 2025, 2026, or 2027)
3) Chainsaw Safety and Operation (class of 2025 or 2026)
Apply by March 31, 2025!
Students will be asked to complete the following short essay:
1) In 300 words or less, describe why you want to participate in the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's Forestry Skills Camp.
We encourage you to prepare your essay before beginning the online application process.
Applicants will also need contact information for a guardian and a teacher.
Applicants will be notified of their acceptance no later than April 18, 2025. All accepted students will also receive a scholarship to cover camp costs.
